Avebury Avenue

This was the first of the 2009 crop circles to appear in more than one stage.  The centre (main circle) shape was reported on 17 June.  The farmer on whose land it appeared cut the crop criss-crossing through the design - no-one managed to photograph it before this happened

(SEE BELOW for impression of how it could have looked)

Following this, two more additions appeared, first the 'tail' and then the arms of decreasing circles.

Report

Once the farmer had the reports of a possible crop circle on his land, he mowed the crop down in the centre of this formation criss-crossing through the central pattern.

At the time it was first reported, this large central circle with what we think was some very intricate patterens within, was the complete design.

The 'tail' appeared the following night after the farmer had destroyed the initial design and the 'arms' were then reported the day after.

The tail has a hook at the bottom, similar to the 'sun-rays' of the formation of Rutland Farm near Avebury and the tail itself could be likened to one of the 'tenticles' of the 'Jellyfish' at Wayland's Smithy.

With the arms of decreasing circles the formation as a whole is like a Stingray.
