This formation is close to the road leading up to the Car Park at Barbury Castle. It was reported on Sunday 24 May. We visited on Tuesday morning (26 May), the lay of the plants was very light, they were not laid flat to the ground.
When we entered the formation there had been recent rainfall and sometimes in these conditions, plants that have been laid down will often spring bank up a little (especially with young plants), but these crops looked very untidy, like they had possibly been blown back up from the ground by wind sine being laid. Once inside the formation, due to this damage, it was difficult to see a well defined pattern. Because of this we estimate that although this circle was reported on 24 May, there is sufficient characteristics to assume that it may have been created up to a week before that date. (See the groundshots opposite).
The circle is appromiately 150 ft in diameter and is based on 7 fold geometry. There are 7 large rings surrounding the centre circle, these rings make up the smaller 7 point star, and larger 7 petal flower patterns that we see within the design. The smaller circles around the central one appear on all the points where these large rings cross.
